Gearbox oil

I have a slight leak from a gearbox and need to change the seals so at the same time I will put some new oil inside.
As MTF 94 is not available here, not even from a Honda dealer a friend who worked as a rover mechanic suggested these:
ESSO Gear oil 75W/80W
SHELL SF5288 75w/80w
TOTAL Transmission BV
Can someone confirm are these good for a PG1 gearbox?

Thx...

Landrover dealers also stock it as do some motorfactors.
MTF94 is the correct stuff, however any oil is better than a low oil level.

I've run PG1's with all sorts in them from 10w40 (originally recommended by austin-rover when the PG1 was first used but needs changing regularly), to SAE90, to EP90 to 75w80 which is currently what is in the missus PG1 (220 turbo petrol).

Low oil level is the thing to avoid as the diff bearings get starved of oil first and hence die quickly.

If you can get the right stuff, usually from MG-rover/Unipart/Xpart/Landrover places and some motorfactors (carlube now make MTF94), then use that, if not use whatever else there is to hand.

Yes, didn't think of the Land Rover - I will check with them!
Anyway, better any oil then no oil, like you said :D
Thx
