anyone got an oil pump for sale??

Post by paulr600sdi »

Since i bought my rover there has been a slight leek, never bothered to invesigate due to the running problems. now thats sorted i've started to throw money at it, but doing so i found out where the leek was comin from!

The pipe comin from the top of the oil pump had the leek, it looks like some one over tightened it and cracked the housing where it screws into! Was supposed to be picking some alloys up from wales in it but aint gonna risk it now.

So has anyone got a spare one kicking about??

Bugger. I've seen people do the same when they overtighten the oil pressure switch too.

I've not got a spare but as they are pretty hardy, I'd be tempted to get one from a scrap car or perhaps an engine on the engine pile as access will be easier.

You could try bodging it with chemical metal etc but as you say you'd never be quite sure when/if it would spring a leak.

got an oil pump off fleabay £23!!

one problem tho! it had a tempature sensor and it was fouling against an oil pipe, so put a blank in it!

it only got overtightened and f*@#%ng cracked it !!!!!!!!!!

so the cemical metal has come out! aint had time to re-fit to see if it has worked, even if it works as a temporary fix till i get some cash to fork out for a new one.

cam belt

Post by paulr600sdi »

Oil pump sorted!

But havin probs with cam belt, when re-fitting the cam belt it was tensioned, took it for a spin and everything was fine. I checked for leaks and there wasn't any ( thank god!) i then noticed that the belt had loosened. Not a great deal but enough to cause concern!

Everything was re-tightened again but i don't want this happening again, any thoughts as to why it happened ?

When you fitted the belt and tensioned it up the first time did you rotate the engine two complete turns and then recheck the tension? If the belt is put on slightly askew then after the engine has rotated a few times it'll slacken off a fair bit.

I'd check it again for the next few journeys and make sure it is all ok.
