this is a mod i did to my 45.
it is easy to do and i think it looks good and feels nicer as well.
choose a new gear knob as the old one wont go back on, remove the old gear knob then cut about an inch off the gear lever, push the new knob on and see how it looks and feels i took quite alot off mine to achieve the look and feel i wanted.
of corse dont cut too much off straight away!!
you may have to put something on the lower part of the gear lever to keep the gater from slipping down.
i glued a big grommet to it.
