Torque limiting in lower gears

Post by Disgusted »

I have heard that the L-series limits torque in the lower gears to reduce wheel spin. Presumably it does this via VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), as the gearbox has no connection to the ECM. Also would I be right in thinking this only affects intercooled models?

Yes I believe so.

The intercooled ones have 2 torque limiters, one for first and second I believe, and the other for 3/4/5th.

The non intercooled isn't that clever and the fuelling is controlled by adjustments on the pump.
