Re: ECU chip replacement

To be honest unless you're really bad with a soldering iron, you can't really go wrong. Soldering iron, desolder braid (well it helps tidy up) and a solder sucker are a must. PCB's providing you treat them with respect are amazingly forgiving to mistakes, so if something doesn't come off right strai...

Re: ECU chip replacement

the chip in the pic is a EPROM, so you will need soldering.

A lot of msa11 ecu's actually came socketed as standard, shame our rovers don't.

Re: boost gauge

Just for future reference, if anybody in the future is out there with a 400 or 45, you can get boost gauge wiring through a grommet behind the coolant bottle (2 x 10mm bolts), as the heater control valve is a little tricker on the 400's then the 200's.

Re: Gearbox whining

Not sure what the original fault is (maybe a bearing like you say?) however a 25 sdi box should fit a 620sdi without a problem.

Gear ratios will be slightly different, but the difference isn't huge.

Re: Intercooling an L-series

Forget about the maf sensor, throw it away, keep it or weld it to your garden patio with an acetylene blowtorch. Makes no difference. What you need is an intercooler, some intercooler pipes (sillicon/rubber etc), a turbo outlet pipe (black one going over top right hand shoulder of engine as you look...

Non-IC -> IC box conversion

Just wondered, if a conversion could be made between the non-intercooled box to an intercooled box. If memory serves me right the difference is a single bearing (I assume shafts are same thickness?). Would it be possible to actually strip the box and fit said part? Just wondering as I have two boxes...

Re: Honda Civic L Series 2.0iTD Non I/cooled

When my SD suffered restricted throttle, and pulled a measly 70hp on the dyno, I could still reach a comfortable 70+ on the motorway.

So I think there must be quite a few non-ic cars out there with problems! :o

Re: Who facies a WGT rolling road day?

I'l be coming (goes without saying really). I'l mention it on .org. For anyone new to the dyno events at WGT, basically the dyno runs are about £25 each, and there's been two rover diesel run days there so far, atracting quite a few people (10-20?) and it makes a good day, even if you arn't a major ...
