Re: Dumpy oil filters

The smaller filter will just mean it clogs up quicker. It won't affect the oil pressure.

The old oil probably got diluted with petrol and thinned with age, causing the drop in oil pressure.

Re: Injector Cleaning

Hmm it seems I can buy an ultrasonic cleaner for the same price as having them cleaned

I think I might buy one and then I could do my petrol injectors on the other car when I do the valve stem seals 8-)

Re: Injector Cleaning

What did you use to clean them, paraffin? I think I might clean mine as they will be awkward to get out once in the van. Is it worth paying for ultrasonic cleaning or does this do the job? Mine works fine but that's not to say an improvement can't be made as they haven't been cleaned for a good whil...

Torque limiting in lower gears

I have heard that the L-series limits torque in the lower gears to reduce wheel spin. Presumably it does this via VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), as the gearbox has no connection to the ECM. Also would I be right in thinking this only affects intercooled models?

Re: Dumpy oil filters

I usually buy Mahle or Fram filters as it's what the local factors stock. I think the filters are smaller as they also fit another application where there isn't so much space. Renault OE filters are very small anyway. A lot of aftermarket catalysts are considerably smaller than OE fit too, presumabl...

Re: Increasing fuel on the pump

I agree, it sounds like clutch release bearing, or gearbox input shaft bearings.

Immobiliser

I have decided to use the OE ECM in my van- I thought the injection timing was mechanically controlled so I was planning to make a control unit to do automatic glow plug timing etc. I have now found that the timing is controlled electronically so I have decided to use the Rover ECM. I got the engine...

Re: Pump direction of rotation

Cheers Dan, I've just found some info on the .org site (http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=120292) which says L = anticlockwise and R = clockwise. I'll get the number off my pump and see if I can find a pump that is a mirror image of the one I have. Am I right in thinking the L-series non-i...
